Two weeks down, one more to go and all this birthday nonsense will be over with for another year.

On Saturday we headed out to the city to celebrate Ali's actual birthday, starting off at Seoul-Ria, then moving to karaoke, and finally to gay clubbing. For once I gave in to the dark side and allowed myself to be promised the sanctuary of Ali's house so that I could stay and club for a decent amount of time for once.

Once we got there however we ran into an unexpected snag: we got turned away because there were too many girls in our group (hein + me ali lingwei ck and jane for the record, and eventually thanda too). So we had to stand outside the club for about 15 minutes while Hein got a couple of his gay buddies to escort us in.

While we were there they had this kissing contest thing, where they pulled up a guy whose birthday it was, and then 3 other random guys who then had to compete for who could pash birthday boy the best to win some grand prize or other. A rundown of the contestants:

Birthday Boy: His name was Banjo. My theory is that his parents were immigrants and wanted to give him an authentic Australian name, after one of our great poets..

Pasher Number One: A straight boy at the club with his girlfriend. Poor kid, he kept trying to get off the stage and hide, only to be pulled right back up by the drag queen running the show. At least he was allowed to get away with only giving birthday boy a kiss on the cheek rather than a full pash, although birthday boy sure tried his best to turn it into one.

Pasher Number Two: Young. Very young. Probably only about 18 or so, and drunk to the gills. His pash was.. somewhat disgusting. Halfway through he left the guys mouth and started tonguing his neck instead, all while making humping movements.

Pasher Number Three: A rather cute Asian and a friend of the birthday boy. He won the pashing contest, although it seems rather incestuous for good friends to have been kissing that way. Ah well.

After about 2 hours of solid clubbing, us gals (and Danny who turned up partway through) decided it was hot and stuffy and time for a break, so we headed out to Hungry Jack's, ignoring the guy on the way trying to entice us into the straight club The Gaff. Then after we ate we went back up to the gay club, once again ignoring the dude on the sidewalk. Once there Danny decided to go back in and club with Hein and Thanda, and us gals decided to go back to the dude and finally take up his offer. The Gaff sucks, and while we were in the dark dungeon-y area of the club I walked into a table. Ouch. And then we headed back out again to catch the Nightride to the north. First time I've caught the Nightride, and you can see how exciting my life is by the fact that I was like ooooh first time *scrutinises ticket carefully*.

And, that was my oh-so-exciting Saturday night :p Sunday I woke up earlyish but lazed around in bed until about 1, when Ali also woke up and we had chocolate dipped strawberries and marshmallows. Then I headed home to change and shower, and then straight back out to dinner with my family at a place called New Istanbul at The Spot, which aside from my grandmothers mutterings about how it was run by Muslims and the food wasn't as good as Chinese, was excellent, both in taste and value.
